The Lodge

The Bulkley River Lodge is on a remote section of one of the best Steelhead rivers on the planet located within the traditional Wet'suwet'en Territory. River-front access and no neighbors are great assets for a fishing lodge.

 

The Season

Primetime for Steelhead is late August to the middle of November

 

The Fish

Steelhead from 5 to 30 pounds... These wild fish are well known for attacking surface presentations throughout the season.

 

The River

The Bulkley River has one of the largest, if not the largest wild Steelhead runs in the world. The river is blessed with over ninety miles of classic fly water.

Pat Beahen

Pat arrived to guide at Bulkley River Lodge in 2008, and has been the lead guide at Whistler Fly Fishing since 2000. Pat is a very well rounded fisherman. Before his full time guiding career he was a successful competitive Bass angler in Ontario and then moved to Whistler in 1998, Pat posses amazing fish sense. Pat is knowing for all the little things that go into his trips - he calls it his ' Rivercraft '. His knowledge of the Bulkley and Whistler Rivers is well regarded and Pat is in tune with his surroundings. He is an enjoyable person to spend a day on the water, with keeping everyone smiling and laughing while at the same time keeping the focus on education, catching fish and of course, safety. Pat is a FFF certified fly casting instructor and is also very good at identifying various forms of flora and fauna, including all the bugs that fish like to eat.. Pat is a student of the River and possesses a uncanny ability to read water. A day spent with Pat is sure to provide you with very valuable insight into fly angling for steelhead and trout on beautiful BC waterways. As well , Pat is known for his never ending-thermos of coffee and his endless supply of youthful energy.
